Micro Bakery Setup and Mentoring Support
Micro Bakery Setup and Mentoring Support
The setup phase of a micro bakery is crucially important to your long term success.
It involves careful thought about many aspects of your proposed business. You will need to understand the best way to manufacture the products you wish to make. You will need to work out what sort of bakery capacity you’ll need to give you the right return on your capital, and how to set things up so your life is enjoyable and sustainable. You will need to purchase equipment and tools of the trade. You will need to have strategies to launch your business so that it begins making a return as quickly as possible.
Designing and equipping a bakery can be a very expensive exercise, especially if you make the wrong choices. Whether you wish to simply bake for your community or manufacture on a bigger scale, the choices you make at the start bear a huge influence on your future lifestyle and potential profitability.
Warwick Quinton has helped set up many bakeries over the years, and has developed a deep first hand knowledge of a wide range of bakery and kitchen equipment, as well as bakery manufacturing techniques. He can help you on any level, whether it’s to work through your business plan with you, or to support you through the setup journey. He can mentor your new business to profitability over an extended period, as you make important choices with regard to setup and establishment of your bakery enterprise.
Warwick uses a very collaborative and flexible process, which is engaging and tailored to your needs. He’s not focused on watching the clock, and will go the extra mile for you.
Bakery setup and mentoring support has five levels, each for different purposes:
Basic. This is a quick look at your overall idea or business plan, your resources, your proposed market, and potentially some critical thinking to look at the risks and rewards inherent in your idea. Can involve a number of phone calls and possibly some research.
Quarterly. When you are purchasing equipment and all the bits and pieces needed to create your bakery, there will be a process of discovery, whether you choose to buy new gear or second hand, and this can take some time. The quarterly pack provides three months phone and internet support as you gather the elements of your bakery. Warwick will assist in uncovering the best deals and most suitable equipment for you, and provide an unbiased and unaffiliated second set of eyes as you set up. Typically we will have monthly zoom or skype sessions to work through milestones and keep things moving forward in a focused way.
Intensive. This pack allows for a weekly session via Zoom or Skype and is especially good when there is an ongoing setup process. These sessions can be structured over longer periods, at times when your project has lots of things to work through on many levels over extended periods of time. This pack is suited to first time operators who need timely and frequent support, and can be renewed as required throughout the setup process.
Half Yearly. When a business starts, there are lots of ongoing decisions and strategies to develop beyond equipment purchase and bakery design. You’ll need production advice, especially with regard to setting up a production schedule to suit your capacity. You’ll need troubleshooting support, and possibly help with marketing and merchandising. The Half Yearly package buys six months general and ongoing support for your bakery enterprise, which can be delivered by phone, webcam or online document exchange and sharing. Generally we will have monthly meetings via zoom or skype to make sure your business plan remains on track and focused.
Annual. This package includes all of the above, as well as mentoring support and ongoing development of your enterprise, so that as it goes through its initial growth phase, everything stays on track, or is adapted ‘on the fly’ so that issues can be resolved and rectified. We generally have monthly meetings on Zoom or Skype which can be invaluable in the first year of operation.
Support is something that bakers reluctantly undertake, but the best ones learn to learn as part of their business. Talk to us about your thoughts. We can structure a package and payment plan to suit your operation and time frame.
